US MRE (2015) - Chili with Beans

Post by MREHungary » Tue Apr 12, 2016 11:01 am

Hi guys!

Yesterday I had some time and I was in the neighborhood of my local military surplus store. The selection of the MRE rations was not so big, but I found a 2015 Chili with Beans. I always wanted to make an English version of my first video, but it is too lengthy and it would be too painful to make (and watch). So I brought it home and here is the result:

Pro:
+ The main entrée is still very good, but this time it had a milder flavor. I had to use salt to fix the dish
+ The cornbread tasted like heaven with the chili, I must get a recipe for that!
+ This time around the texture of the fudge brownie was perfect, it was spongy and soft. Not so tough like before

Con:
- Something was very odd with the cinnamon gum. I ate it after I emptied my try and it was a little foul
- The cheese spread is still too salty IMHO
- I would easily replace the vegetable crackers with one additional cornbread

Chili with beans is a great dish, it has everything a field ration should have. I cannot report anything (beside the gum) which was not tasty, even the vegetable crackers had some flavor. It was a great experience again and would eat it anytime again.

Woah they sell MRE's in Hungary military surplus store?

Back on topic. Great review Gabor, I'm happy you decided to make live English speaking video. Only bad thing that annoyed me was your timer, you should keep that away from the mic that ticking is just awful. Kudos on speed, just yesterday I watched MCW review and today this. You're on fire

The clock is a must! Or I will have two hour long videos :D Nevertheless thanks for the feedback!

I have some other videos on my hard drive, but somehow I never get there to cut and convert them. But sooner or later I will upload them to Youtube ;)
