CBS News story on the new Air-Activated Heater. I like the idea however, looks like a whole lot of extra trash. Curious what the shelf life on these will be. Thanks to Aaron for posting the link to my fb page.

Cheers

It does appear to generate more waste. With the benefit of saving a few ounces of water and not producing hydrogen by products. I wonder about the shelf life as well. Not to mention what would happen if it became compromised in the MRE or in shipment. Remember the video of the pallet of FRH's catching fire after becoming compromised?

I'm looking, can't believe it is this hard to find.

Here is a link to olive drab that documents it. http://olive-drab.com/od_rations_frh.php

And yet, another link, no video found as of yet. http://www.fire.tc.faa.gov/pdf/tn06-18.pdf

Here is a discussion from MREINFO with a link containing pictures of the fire. viewtopic.php?t=896

Neat! Drives me crazy that the reporter neglected to pull off the cover on one of the adhesive strips
