Red Cross Food Parcels........

Hi to all,

This is a link to a YouTube video about the SS Vega, a Red Cross vessel which brought Red Cross food parcels to the inhabitants of the Channel Island of Jersey.

My late mother was a recipient of a Canadian parcel, which was classed as the best.

She still held on to the box after she was liberated and returned to England.

Regards to all, Norman.

great Vid :D

That was a interesting story, The islands being cut off is a story on it's own. The WW 2 era Red Cross Packages had a great impact so many different people all over the globe it is hard to fathom. Noticed they show KLIM powder milk and what I assume was Canadian Corned Beef. They mentioned SPAM. I read a story of an American POW in the Pacific War receiving a Red Cross Parcel from South Africa of all places. He said as long as he lived he would never forget the labels, smells and taste of his Red Cross Package.

Hi to all,

Following on from the You Tube video, this is a link to my postings on the LandRover MilitaryLightweight web site forum from earlier in the year when I visited the island of Jersey to retrace my late mothers life when she was a young girl.
