I did notice that FRH bubbling away right next to a candle But I doubt just one of them would make enough hydrogen to be very dangerous. Hydrogen is much lighter than air, and unless you contain it it's likely to disperse upward quickly.

Fire
In any event, there is a possibility of fire. For that reason I would say this is one example of what not to do with your MRE heater.
Keep it outdoors.
I had the MRE heater outdoors and I was about 50 feet away from the unit and I could still smell it.

The first time I tried to watch that video, I gave up on it after 50 seconds and he was still playing that damn music and still had those titles flying around the screen. Get on with it already!
Ok...enough of my rant about the video...but on the to subject of FRHs near a candle. I don't think a single FRH in an open room is going to generate enough hydrogen to cause a fire...even if it's next to a candle. The incidents I've read about where FRHs caused fires were when they were shipping cargo containers full of just FRHs and they had moisture leak in.
So I'm guessing they wouldn't have a problem with what the guy did in the video. But at the same time, I don't think I'd take the chance and wouldn't have a candle anywhere near it.

Candle
The Point being that the package clearly states the flammable nature of the combined elements. Only a retard points combustible material near a flame.
Bad video, no doubt.
I won't test the flash point of the hydrogen gas. It's easier just to follow the directions clearly written on the package.

In fact I prefer Kato's videos, more fun and you better see the details...
