People who have lived in Europe from 1984-1996 cannot give blood.
Ever.
BSE/CJD is still there, Prions can't be destroyed by ordinary food sterilyzing techniques.
All the infected cows? Burned and buried? The Prions are still there...

The mortality rate in the States is:

~ 300 by a population of 310 mio peoples.
In Germany we had 7 by a population of 81mio. So the mortality rate of both countries are pretty similar.
As the western (US and EC) BSE prevention regulations are the same, I don´t worry eating a MRE nor an EPa, not having a steak over here nor in the US.

A video about the latest BSE case in California.Shows that (in the US) only a tiny fraction of the cows are tested before slaughtering. At 6:00min.On one hand I'm surprised that the FDA is not taking the testing seriously. But on the other hand, knowing how present day's economy works...

Not trueAs the western (US and EC) BSE prevention regulations are the same,

http://www.today.com/id/12839903#.Uwnicc5c9vEA second group, Consumers Union, advocates testing every animal slaughtered in the United States.
The current level of 1,000 tests each day represents about 1 percent of the 35 million cattle slaughtered annually in this country. Beginning around late August, the new level will be about 110 tests per day.
"If you do testing of 100 percent of your animals, any ones that test positive never go into the food chain," said Michael Hansen of Consumers Union. "That's in part why they do it in Europe because they've seen animals that look perfectly fine and they catch them just before they go to slaughter."
