The "Gorch Fock" is that sailing vessel where German navy officer cadets get their training.
Here is a nice video about heir kitchen and cooks.
The cook/kitchen of German Navy sailor ship
Re: The cook/kitchen of German Navy sailor ship
Did not understand the narration or commentary, but I would feel at home with the cooks in the Galley of that ship.
I would be interested in the daily Menu on a seagoing German warship circa 1905
Then compare it with US , British, Italian French Russian and Japanese naval typical daily hot ration.
Naval foodstuffs at the turn of the century were Superior to Army Foodstuffs, but storage would be limited.
They would have to adjust depending on the durration of the voyage

Re: The cook/kitchen of German Navy sailor ship
Looks like a standard Galley, steam kettles and electric grills (irons)
Headroom looks a bit low, though
Method of serving is a bit clumsy too.
Sailors work hard, and will eat most anything, but a good cook is a " treasure" and a ship that is known as a "good feeder' is a sought after berth!
I had two lousy feeders( WW2 Destroyers), and one ok feeder (Fast Frigate) and one 'Gourmet' feeder( Patrol Gunboat)!
The smaller the ship, the better the food, and good food = good morale.
We also had some German students, they complained of too much meat and not enough bread (dark bread).
It didn't stop them from eating like pigs, though...
