Russian 24hr FSB - Non-Mountain Version - Menu 1 - packed 2017
Re: Russian 24hr FSB - Non-Mountain Version - Menu 1 - packed 2017
Kasha. I think this is intended for breakfast and is very heavy/filling. Excellent grains and bits of what seem like beef. Perfect amount of salt. I'm saving the provided fuel tab/esbit stove for future use and boiled (floating) for ten mins instead, but it was not enough, the hot spoonfuls were outstanding, the warm ones, not as good texture wise. Excellent flavor and I would gladly eat this for dinner too.

Beef with beans and onions. At first opening this looked like chili, but no smell to make me think that for long. The spice combination is a new flavor for me and the sauce has a light sweetness. Huge pieces of beef in here that while very tender, cant be easily cut with the spoon. Beans appear to be a red bean or small kidney bean. This one is a bit heavy on the salt.
I boiled it, weighted down to submerge, for about 15 mins and it did puff up a lot and was ready to pop. One main to go

Beef Stew
I believe Russians call this tushonka which roughly translates to stewed meat. (There is another vesion that is like a blood sausage) I would compare it to an Irish-American corned beef, but with more of a pot roast type flavor. It had the color and texture of slow cooked corned beef.
Big portion of meat and extremely tender, easily cut with the spoon. It was on the fatty side, which i assume is deliberate for nutritional reasons. This main is fantastic and i would be a very happy soldier. This far exceeds US MRE meat mains.
I added the black pepper, but the salt level was already spot on. It was boiled, submerged, for 10mins.
