It looks like the date of production is 10/07/2017.Asger wrote: ↑Mon Jun 18, 2018 1:11 pmWatch out for that fruit bar sometimes it contains shells. When was this ration made, what date? It could be one of those viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9121 because I see ООО "Барышский мясокомбинат" on that cans.
PS
Although this is Russian ration more correct would be Russian MVD ration, because we say LRP or MCW, not just American MRE.

Many thanks to both Delicious and Rahzmataz.
The pictures of the Buckwheat dish is Kawa or Kasha, I assume.

It seems I have an identical one. I haven’t had the time or nerve enough to dig into it. There certainly is a lot of stuff in the box! I’m interested in seeing the rest of your thoughts on this ration.

Apologies for the delay folks, unfortunately I've been a little ill as of late. Anyway, let's get on to lunch!
I decided to try out the Beef and Potato Stew for lunch, along with another pack of crackers and some "Gentle Pate", and to wash it down, the Berry Concentrate Drink. I popped open the main, and it wasn't exactly what i'd expected. I'd assumed that it'd be chunks of potato, but instead, it was almost like... Small fries, I guess? Still, it smelt pretty good so I threw it on the stove and got it going. While that was warming up, I opened the Pate and gave it a look. It was actually pretty nice, a very mild flavour, which I guess could be what they mean by "Gentle". It had a very smooth texture, too. It wasn't too bad on the crackers, but I wouldn't have minded a little more punch to it. After a bit of heating, stirring, and spilling, the main was ready, and I was decidedly curious. It was pretty damn nice though! Potato was well cooked rather than having the slightly undercooked chip texture I expected. Only small bits of meat, but again, nice and easy to eat. I wolfed the whole thing down pretty quick, so I only got one picture mid-meal, but a similar thought occurred to me as had during breakfast - This was comforting food. After I ate, I opened the drink mix, and the smell was AMAZING. Sweet, sharp, and fruity. It was genuinely mouthwatering. I mixed up the drink with 250ml of cold water, as instructed. I forgot to snap a picture of it mixed, so you'll have to trust me when I say it went surprisingly bright pink. It tasted pretty much like a nice berry drink, I don't have anything bad to say about it.
Overall, it was a great lunch. The beef and potato was excellent, as was the drink, but I wouldn't have minded a bigger pack to mix up. You could dilute it to 500ml, but I get the distinct impression that it'd be unpleasantly watery at that point.
I'll post up dinner in a couple of days!

That's the thing that really can't be underestimated - The feel good factor of this food. Guys eating this are in fairly rough situations sometimes, good food is huge for morale.jmcdaniel0 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 23, 2018 9:22 pmI really enjoyed that dish as well.
