I think it should have been called Meatballs with spaghetti noodles in tomato sauce... LOOK AT THOSE MEATBALLS.

I was happy to show people that Canadians have flameless ration heaters too.

All the contents laid out.
Ok so first thing you'll probably notice about this menu is the massive meatballs included in this main meal. Also yes it was as good as it looks. There was plenty of meat of course, the spaghetti noodles were not over cooked which is always a big plus, and the sauce had that very familiar microwave spaghetti taste. Plus it came with a pack of Frank's Red Hot in case you needed to spice it up. That's something I wish I would have said in my video is I can imagine setting down eating this meal in the field in some other far away country getting that feeling of being back home, chillin, watching TV on a night you didn't want to cook so you just ate microwave spaghetti. The shelf stable hamburger bun went really well with the main entree but I only used half for the main and the other half for Peanut buddy and strawberry jam.

I should touch on the flames ration heater real quick. I happened on some of them a few months ago. So I couldn't pass up the opportunity to use a Canadian frh in a video. People ask all the time how they heat their food in the Canadian military. Now they know. But now on to its performance. As I was setting up I noticed that the elements looked exactly like the ones in the U.S frh but there must have been something a bit different about it because once I put about half the amount of recommended water in the thing it took off like crazy. So all that being said the IMP frhs work really well. I especially like the much larger bag. Having that extra room is really nice.

I guess it's kind of an American thing to eat PB&J but this strawberry jam and Canadian peanut butter made a really good half of a PB&J sandwich. The strawberry jam was sweet and tasted very natural. The peanut butter has just a faint hint of sweetness, thick, creamy, with a good strong peanut flavor. Following the PB&J up with some peach slices in syrup was a nice pallet cleanser. Of course they were sweet because of the syrup but they still had a nice firmer texture to them. They hadn't suffered from being in the retort pouch for 3 years at all.

Well move on to the drinks now. First was the lemon sports drink. It was sweet, tangy, and tasted like a good lemonade. This meal also came with the Chilled Cappuccino Protein Drink mix. It was very, very thick with a really strong coffee flavor and not overly sweet. I should mention that I started off with just a little extra water but I ended up putting well over double the recommended amount of water to it. Even after adding the extra water it was still plenty thick with good flavor.

Now finally I finished up the ration with a perfectly preserved Mars Bar. The chocolate was nice and thick with a good crunch. The chocolate flavored nougat mixes nicely with the creamy caramel. I'll put a link to my YouTube video down below if you'd like to check it out.

One last thing. Huge thanks to BlackDogBob for giving me the opportunity to check out the imp spaghetti..... Later ya'll.

I couldn't agree more Wes I plan to do more written reviews from now on. It's a lost art and it also helps me doing me videos so it's a double bonus. Thanks for checking it out and commenting on it.

Oh yeah I really enjoy the imps. I'm wanting to review a few older ones soon if I can find a few. I have one already thanks to kman.

Ya Smokey, Cool Review! I dig the written reviews also! You are well written! I think the IMP quality is right up there with British ORPs.

Nice review old smokey! Watched this before eating my first IMP :)

It was the menu #4 Sausages and hash browns. It was all good with the exception of the vanilla protein shake. I guess it was more on my part though since it couldn't manage getting rid of the clumps of powder in it. Ended up drinking anyway though :)

There was one thing that bugged me with the composition. NO SALT! Having the hash browns without some salt to put on top was no option, so got the salt shaker from the kitchen. But out in the field that is obviously not an option, so now a question.. Does any Canadian ration have a salt/pepper packet in them?

The only pic I took of my meal:

Have access to several different Swedish rations.

Looking for:
Italian, Canadian, Spanish, Japanese and any from south america.

Salt and pepper never comes in the IMP's sadly

That's a bummer... the same thing goes with Swedish ones, always had a mixed spice shaker (6-in one) with me during my army time :)

Man, that looks like a pretty hefty portion of meatballs for a ration.

Thanks for the review. I look forward to getting my hands on an IMP in the future.
