French midnight snack

Usually when coming home from the late shift at work, I'm in need of a snack before bed. This time I couldn't stop myself from ransacking the closest ration at hand, the lucky ration was a menu 9 french RCIR.

Items that I took was:

1 Deer Paté
3 different snack bars
1 pack of salt crackers
1 pack of sweet biscuits
1 pack of apricot jam
And a cup of menthol tea

At first I was a little hesitant about deer paté since not being very fond of gamely meat. But it was great, didn't have that usual gamely flavour. Nice texture with a hint of saltiness in it, matched perfectly with the salt crackers and jam! And the crackers were better when the need to use them as a spoon arised. Not much flavour but quite hard so could chop the paté easily without breaking :)

As for the snack bars they were tasty but a bit too small to sufficiently satisfy my hunger.

"Saveur fruits rouges" Texture was very similiar to my regular protein bar, but somewhat hard and cracked a few times when biting into. Nice round fruity flavour.

Next off was a french fruit nougat "Nougat aux fruits, Tradition provecale". Soft and chewy, small pieces of fruits inside. Would've wanted bits of salted nuts inside to complete it.

As said earlier the bars were small so had to take a third bar "Pâte de fruits". This one was not to my liking, were very similar to the jelly candy I used to get at grandmothers house. It was the only candy she had so grew very tired of them as a child (She was a smart woman so probably had a stash of "real" candy hidden away somewhere, no offense meant to you who like jelly candy :) ).

Topped it of with green menthol tea. Round nice medium flavour, quite refreshing! Now I'm all set for the night :)

And the choice of tea cup was unintentional, it is my favourite :)

What a nice variety of snacks. :)

The apricot jam and commando fruity bar really are giving me a sweet tooth at the moment. The menthol tea is fantastic - i find it especially refreshing on a cold night out camping as a relaxing close to nap time & by the fire kindof drink.

At first I was annoyed by the small sized bars, but after giving it some thought.. I'd prefer if every manufactor would make their bars as small as them, you can find more flavours in a ration, and enjoy it at diffirent occasions during the day. If I open a regular sized/king size bar I eat it all at once. Never saving anything to enjoy at a later occasion
