1981 Canadian LWP (Lightweight Patrol) Ration

I had never seen one of these before - so when coming across this one it was an exciting find indeed.
Weighs only 8 ounces and I would guess contains about 900 calories max. Was it a restricted calorie 24hr ration like the US LRP's original scope of design? Or was it a single meal? Hopefully the latter for any soldier's sake. I would guess at least 2 were issued per day. When were they first produced? And when did production end? A mystery for now.
The Beef Stew had a hole - some cat scratched the main pouch and punctured it with it's claw. That was about 3 weeks ago before being sent out to me. Did not affect the main's edibility - at least so far so good 90 minutes later after eating.
It was different from US FD beef stew. More savory and salty. The beef was finer and less chewy. No gristle. Not bad at all! Peas and carrots galore with a few cubes of potato adding a starchy consistency with a little pea and carrot background. A hearty beef stew.
Rolos had turned but a ate a couple anyway. A little fruity - a little strange.
Hot cocoa was spoiled and foul. Bitter and sharp. Bummer.
Chicken soup was stale and unappetizing. Herbal flavor was a real mess - I cannot describe it..almost swampy.
Coffee was great - tasted like diner coffee. Like some cheap, mild roast with a light acidity. Not much to it - but 2 packs did the trick. Only used 1 of the 3 sugars and no creamer.
Chiclets, peppermint - awesome stuff as always. Crunchy but not tooth breaking. Chewed just fine.
That cool match pack is by DD Bean.
Oh! And that spoon is sturdy! Quite the shovel.
What a cool experience. I am editing the video right now for YT. Stay tuned.
Thanks for looking and I'll be back with something new, or old.
