Got this in one of BlackDogBob's grab bags. My first ever ration. Figured I would try my hand at a review. I would do a video, but I suppose I'm a bit shy.
Contents:
- Fruity Museli with Milk
- Potato & Leek soup
- Chicken Panang
- Plain rice
- Apple Turnover
- Hot Pepper Sauce
- Strawberry/Banana/Apple Puree
- Biscuits
- Smoth Peanut Butter
- Cranberry Cereal Bar
- Orange Flavor Fortified Drink Powder
- Tutti Fruity, Tropical, and Grapefruit Flavored Drink Powders, Orange Flavored Hot Chocolate Powder
Other stuff: Instant coffee x2, Teabags x2, sugar x4, creamer x4, water purification tablets x6, tissues, matches x5, wet wipes, gum, sport and a reuseable poly bag.
(couldn't fit the contents into one pic, sorry)
Started off with the Museli, one of the coffee packs, and the tutti fruity drink powder. The Museli itself was really bland, though the fruit really did a great job of adding some flavor - I'm glad it was in there. I found it to be very filling. Pretty good way to start the day. Drink powder was different for sure, hard to compare that flavor to anything I can think of at the moment, but it was pleasant.
For lunch I had the potato & leek soup, the cereal bar, an orange energy drink, and some of the puree. The soup was REALLY good. I wasn't sure what to expect at first but once I could smell it I knew it would be tasty. It had more of a subtle taste, most of the flavor coming from the leeks. Very nice. The orange drink was great, the flavor was also subtle. The cereal bar was almost too sweet, I almost didn't finish it because it was so overpowering, almost a sour candy type of taste. I wasn't expecting that. The puree was pleasant. Nothing special, but a good dessert.
Shortly after I decided to eat the Chicken Panang and Rice packets. The rice was very dry when I opened it so I decided to mix the two. This was VERY filling. Very good taste. I've never had panang before, just seems to be a sort of curry. Lightly spicy, very hearty. I found myself wanting more after eating this.
Haven't had a chance to eat the turnover or try the orange hot chocolate yet - will update this when I do.
Next on the list is a 24 hour Lithuanian Combat ration Menu #3, and a French RCIR down the road when it arrives
