Hi guys. This is my first review here on mreinfo.com, hopefully it is a bit interesting ;)

This is a Dutch Koninklijke Landmacht Gevechtsrantsoen, Individueel from 1970, complete with a sealed package of cigarettes, which i found at a flea market in the Netherlands.

As you can see, the box has seen better times.
IMG_2663.JPG
A complete look at all the components.
IMG_2646.JPG
I think this is the highlight. A sealed 10 cigarette package from 1970. I don“t wanna open it. It should stay as it is.
IMG_2647.JPG
Vruchtentablet,Abrikozen - which means fruit tablet, apricot. Feels very hard and solid.
IMG_2649.JPG
Chocoladereep - a classic chocolate bar. Must not be missing in any ration. Feels a bit weird and soft.
IMG_2655.JPG
The accessory packet with all components.
1x Limonadepoeder, citroen (Lemonade powder, citrus)
1x Koninginnesoep (Queens Soup? Maybe a chicken kind of soup??)
5x packages of Moccana Instant Coffee
1x Bouillonkorrels (Bouillon Powder, i have no idea which taste)
5x Coffee Whitener
1x Package of cocoa
IMG_2659.JPG
A package of Biscuits, bruin. Brown biscuits. Nothing special at all.
IMG_2660.JPG
A very bloated and dangerous looking can of cheese spread. hopefully it wont explode in my house :D
IMG_2661.JPG
A can of corned pork. Not bloated at all.
IMG_2662.JPG
This is the main course. Kapucijners met spek. Which means something like Peas with bacon. Not swollen, looks fine.

So, that was my very first ration review. I hope you enjoyed it. I am not into old food at all. If someone is interested, just write me a pm.
Greetings from Germany,
Christian

That cheese can, dude.
Get rid of it, or if you wanna open it, maybe try putting it in the fridge or even better the freezer for a while and hope the air contracts a bit to perhaps reduce the pressure.
Then take it outside and stab it with a long knife, screwdriver or something while wearing goggles ad gloves :)
I had a bloated can of crushed pineapples basically explode as I opened it with the pull tab. At first I thought it had taken my finger off :D Then I saw it was just some rotten pineapple pieces plastered on the wall.

Great find! thanks for sharing.
I remember these rations. Especially this main entree! You can imagine 12 young soldiers trying to sleep at night in a small tent, all having eaten beans & bacon.
I was in the Dutch Air Force from 1978-1980, and in the early days we were provided with these old type ration. Very soon after we got the ration type with two smaller main meal cans (without the green paint), and no cigarettes.

Christian thank you so much for sharing this fascinating treasure. I've never seen a Dutch Combat Ration that old, and certainly never with cigarettes. :D

Aquarius, thank you too for the input and sharing that particular experience.. poor guys were fumigating yourselves in that tent!

In the US Army we call the sleeping bag a "fart sack" for a reason! I bet the Dutch do for the same reason as well!

@aquarius
especially with that kind of food, it must have been pretty hard nights with 12 guys in a tent :D

As long as it remained a fart sack over a shart sack everything was A-OK!
