Heading back into Canadian territory today. Having breakfast for supper... I'm a wild and crazy guy!

Here we have all the components. Always seems to be more in the Canadian IMP's than in American MRE's. I've yet to try many of these items thus far.

The main entree is the Sausage and Hashbrowns... it looks like what we would call "homefries". I pictured it looking more like the shredded potato hashbrowns in US MRE's. This looks bad, smells bad, and even after adding Franks Red Hot Sauce and ketchup, it tastes even worse. Yeah... things aren't looking up.

The 2014 IMP's switched from regular bread to a Hamburger Bun....that's only sliced halfway. I'm not impressed. At least the peanut butter and strawberry jam was nice.

For dessert we have sliced peaches. These sliced peaches look messed up.... they should be called "crushed peaches".

Moving on to the high-point of the ration.... blueberry apple cereal. That's not saying much.

Lastly we have the Fruit Punch. It tastes like Hawaiian Punch... that must be an international law.

I made the mistake of trying to mix the Wildberry Yogurt Protein drink in a glass instead of in the pouch.... ended up with a clumpy mess. It was horrible.

To finish up we have a couple Icebreakers Frost mints, wintergreen flavour. They were nice... aside from the fact that I dropped one on the floor and the dog ran to eat it, and then I remembered it had xylitol in it and didn't want to kill the dog, so i crushed it under my foot to stop him. Fun indeed.

This whole thing was pretty much just "meh". Thankfully it was a free ration added to the last package I ordered because the outer-bag was already torn. I guess I can't complain about it too much. I simply won't be buying this particular menu ever again. Hopefully the Hashbrowns and Bacon one will be a bit better.

Yeah every lunch menu IMP I've had has been absolutely fantastic. I'd say the Lamb and Vegetable Stew has been my favourite.... and that's still my #1 ration entree of all time so far.

Yes I agree the potatoes do look like home fries, not like hash browns. I would be tempted to toss the entire sausage and potatoes into a hot frying pan (with about a tablespoon of cooking oil) and fry until everything's crispy on the outside.

I haven't had this menu but I have had a few of the items. That protein shake is absolutely delicious. Definitely shake that sucker in the bag. I also love the blueberry granola and the peaches. Good thought on frying the hash browns up,

Yeah I'm thinking about cooking the Hashbrowns & Bacon IMP in that way, hashbrowns certainly need to be crispy to be enjoyed the best.

Yeah if I had mixed it properly then it should have been good. The granola/cereal is always great, always love that component, no matter what ration it's in. Disappointed in the bread... it was too dark and because it had been partially sliced it was drier than the older rectangular bread.

I don't mind this one, I think the taste is fine, but the smell is a bit off putting. It's not really possible to make hashbrowns in the way you would think of them in a can. In Canada, some restaurants might call pototoes prepared in this way "homefries", but almost universally, Canadians just say hashbrowns in my experience, using it to refer to almost any sort of pan fried potatoe pieces, except things like say, potatoe pancakes, or fishcakes.

Yes, never, ever, ever try to mix it in a glass. Don't put a spoon in to stir it, or anything. just pour water in, close, shake, then pour out after.

Here in Newfoundland it would normally be called Homefries, probably a 75-25 split between that and Hashbrowns. But we do use different conventions than the restof Canada sometimes, joining the country not that long ago.
