German EPA Typ 6 (2013)

Post by SNiiP3R » Fri Oct 14, 2016 8:56 pm

I finally got to try the Typ 6.

When I opened the box I was very surprised to see the old packaging, everything had 2012.
But this was definitely 2013, the old EPA's did not have cereal bars muesli and an additional dessert.
Maybe it was packed during the transition, when they were moving from an old style to a new?

The first meal I've had was the curry rice with sausages. I really liked this one, one of the best meals I've tried.
You definitely feel the curry spice, but it's very mild and not overpowering. Man, those sausages were really tasty!
If you like the Cevapcici, you will love this one.

Tortellini in tomato sauce was the 2nd meal. This was an OK dish, but honestly I hate the way pasta tastes in MRE's.
It's too soggy and mushy.

I did not take pictures of the dessert. It was some type of lemon pudding. It was powered based, so I had to mix it with warm water. I really liked it though, it was delicious.
Everything else was pretty much the same as in any other EPA, the chocolate, pate, drinks..ect

The transition was in (late) 2012. If the items have a production date of 2012 it´s a 2012 EPa.
The Arabic number ones (current) have a bigger box and as you mentioned these cereals bars, freeze dried dessert and or muesli etc.

What makes you think it´s 2013?

Mine had the freezed dried dessert, cereal bar and muesli, and the box was definitely bigger than 2012. It also had 0113 label on it. Here is the picture of the side,

That label say´s "0113-01" but that "13" isn´t the year of the EPa. For a reason I don´t know yet  , that labels are always one year ahead of the items inside produced. Could be the fiscal year that ended here in 2013?

That's good to know. All this time I thought that the label on the side indicated the year it was produced.

In any case, I think this was some type of transitional variant, the box is new and the contents are mixed. Oh yeah, the chocolate bar was in pretty bad condition, it was like a choco powder. The Typ II you sent me was fresh, you really know how to take good care of your EPAs

Yeah, the chocolate bar was also produced in 2012 :(

Is it hard to find fresh, 1 - 2 year old EPAs in Germany?
I have not seen any 2014 or 2015 on ebay. Most are 3 - 4 years old already.
