Canadian IMP Beef with Mushroom Sauce

So thanks to the generous swap last year, right before my accident, I've had a Beef in Mushroom sauce IMP waiting to be reviewed. It had to be delayed, and I was finally able to get it taken care of. AdamBoy86 was real generous in sending it to me, along with a neat little extra. :)

Plus, working with the new camera, I lost the original opening and unboxing, so I had to recreate it.

This was a very interesting menu. It's the first one I've gotten that had the FD side in it. I've seen it in other vids, but it was interesting to be able to try it myself. It came with what I considered to be a lot of stuff, but looking back it really wasn't that much. It was real drink heavy, having both Tea and Coffee, as well as the Raspberry Drinks.

the Mains...

Tortillas, Rice, Beef with Mushroom Sauce, and Applesauce....an interesting combination.

Entree
Image
Very meaty, reminiscent of the meat that came in the Beef Pot Roast MRE, but the sauce...that sauce made the dish. Savory, just a touch of umami, the mushrooms adding an earthiness to it...and the mushroom pieces, being whole....man, it was good. Didn't even need any of the Mrs Dash. :D

Rice
Image
My first time with the FD rice...I'll mix it better next time. Big clumps of seasoning, instead of a nice spice distribution. The seasoning, however, was really nice, if a touch salty. The rice itself, however, did not impress me. It was real broken, grainy, honestly if it had been labeled Cous-Cous i would not have been able to tell a difference. But, it did soak up that mushroom sauce and that helped. ;)

The raspberry drink wasn't anything special. Sorry, but the Norwegian Arctic drink has me spoiled...Coffee, I probably put too much water in, and the creamer just wanted to clump up. Tea, was a good black tea. Out of the 3 it was the winner.

Like I said, the entree was so good, the Mrs Dash and the Hot Sauce remained unopened. The PB and Raspberry jam, however....BlackDog is right, a PB&J quesadilla is a really good thing....I was suprised by the raspberry jam, it had a real homestyle taste. But the clear, undisputed winner....FudgeeO's....Those things are nothing but good...blows Oreo's out of the water without even trying.

Desserts

You can see the tortillas did what the Ration tortillas are famous for. Split as soon as they fell out of the package. FudgeeO's....See above. The Strawberry applesauce...i'll be honest, I don't like some foods because of their texture. Applesauce is one. But, I tried it so I could make sure I did a full, honest review. It was ok, not a real strawberry flavor...and not really much of an apple flavor...just a bland, sweet amagalmation....

Nice review, elandil. It's interesting to see how the applesauce and main entree come from The Wornick Company in the US...but it looks like they've sourced all the other parts from Canada.

Man! Great review. I have got to try the fugeee-os. They do look good. Next time I will have to mix up the rice. And if I get my hands on some more of that raspberry jam, well, it won't stand a chance. Lol. Great review brother!

The tortillas reminded me that as good as these can get, Wornick is making them and any overlapping menus will be identical. Fudgee-O's sound pretty interesting though  Thanks for the review elandil. Side-question, is your tray blue?
