I have one last meat component from the Russian Civil Defense (Blue Bag) 24 Hour IRP. My plan was to take it for lunch on a camping trip next month, but the weather was clear warm. The trees just starting to bloom or turn green . Could not wait and used my last Russian meal
On the River
For lunch brought the Russian meat , MRE crackers and Made In NZ yeast paste
фарш
Translated to some of these words in English
Forcemeat
Mincemeat
Stuffing
filling
заполнение, наполнение, начинка, заливка, засыпка, фарш
Opened smelled like Hormel SPAM or Armour TREAT canned meat. It had a small amount of Jelled grease on the edge
I thought the texture was similar to SPAM.
You could barley spread this stuff o crackers so I just ate it out of the can
The flavor was pleasant. but I could not tell exactly what meat this tasted like. No particular flavor jumped out, such as Pork, Beef or Chicken.
Seemed to be about the same as generic processed canned meat. You could see some layers of White fat other more solid chunks of meat.
It could have been heated and added to other items. Or small parts and grease used to make a broth.
I would have no problem eating this as a breakfast meal if combined with eggs either F/D or Fresh. For evening meal you could combine with MRE Corn, rice or beans
You could add with MRE chili crushed MRE crackers and Tabasco for a more meaty stew.
One can filled me up, until diner.
Very Old Brown Bag MRE crackers. The were toasted looking and the flavor still tasted good. They cracked and snapped like they were brand new
Still Good
Good Made In New Zealand Yeast spread
I like Vegemite and Maramite and this tasted good in comparison.
I had Cheap American Beer for my beverage, so the salty lunch was no problem.
Back on the river after lunch, Upper Potomac near Tri-State West Virginia/Virginia /MD Border
The Mountains are near Harper's Ferry West Va

Good review Norton! I just had the opportunity to try Marmite this year. It took me a little bit to get used to it, but I have to say that I like the stuff!
Great pics, it looked like a fun outing.

Thanks to a tube of Vegemite from a PR1M I ended up hooked. You can get anything on the internet these days so I snagged a few jars.
