New Zealand Military - 24hr Operational Ration Pack (ORP)

Post by Kiwi Dude » Wed May 07, 2014 1:03 am

Hi All,

I couldn't see any Kiwi rations in this section, so I'll drop a link to my YouTube Ration Review channel where I've done a review over breakfast, lunch and dinner on a New Zealand Military 24 hour ORP:

http://www.youtube.com/user/KiwiDudeMRE

Cheers,
Matt.

Strangely enough your reviews popped up in my recommended videos on youtube before I saw this thread.

Your videos are very well done, I'd love to see more!

I would imagine being so close to Asia, you have access to a lot of rations we in the states would be hard pressed to get.

Thanks fdsman! Glad you like the videos, there'll be many more to come.

Getting my hands on some Asian rations is definitely on the to-do list. Part of the enjoyment I get from ration reviews is the off-camera 'hunt' to source them. I've got a couple of odd-ball ones coming up :D

Cheers,
Matt

Not sure if you're familiar with him, but a fellow who goes by the handle of "mrejap" used to have a ton of ration videos on youtube, however he removed them and claimed that they disappeared when he purchased his new computer. I suspect the reason for their removal may have been mockery from members of his less than appreciative audience.

They were pretty much the encyclopedia of knowledge on rations as he had examples from nearly every country imaginable, as well as several menus, and different time periods; It'd be excellent if you could build a similar library.

Interestingly enough, I found his website: http://theworldrationjp.web.fc2.com/index.html

There's also this site: http://10.studio-web.net/~phototec/index.html

Both of which have an excellent source of pictures, and general knowledge about these rations. The unfortunate situation being the text is all in Japanese.

Thanks fdsman.

I'm familiar with mrejap and his unique style, but sadly didn't get to see the bulk of his content. It's sure is a shame that his videos have gone, however, gundog4314 managed to save a couple and has mirrored them on his channel :)

I will certainly do what I can to review a variety of international rations. I love my spicy food, so am really hanging out for an Indian pack!

Cheers,
Matt.

Figured I'd find Kiwi Dude here LOL! I'm relatively new....today in fact. Been neat seeing who is here since I notice some of the names on YT. Managed to post two of mrejap's vids or mirrors of his reviews, I enjoyed watching him. Cheers
