Today, a review of my third taste of the products of the Australian Defense Force
The PR1M Menu B

- Australian Patrol Ration One Man Menu B, 2009
This ration is 24 hours of food for one man.
Unlike the CR1M, these rations are issued to special forces because of their lighter weight, (like USA's LRRP)

- Due to dehydrated components and the lack of canned components these are lighter than the normal CR1M
They also come with paper work

- Menu's, Ingredients, Warning/Comment Sheet, random paper squares(for QC its says)

- Menu B today
As you can see there is a lot of food, so far it seems appropriate for a full day.

A Few Snacks to get started:
Scotch Fingers Biscuits = cookies!
Nice sweet flavor sort of like a mix of animal crackers and shortbread cookies
The spread was good, very sweet and smooth in texture, almost like frosting or vanilla nutella

- I had a white chocolate confectionery spread also, i opened that instead of the chocolate that came with this meal
I needed a drink so decided to try the chocolate drink mix

- looks good, smells very rich
Everything was great, i saved some of the spread for later.

Lunch Time! and i have some choices to make
The winners are: Noodles Beef, Mixed Berry Fruit Grains and Beef and Black Bean Sauce
Noodles Beef:
Next up Mixed Berry Fruit Grains:

- Fruit Snacks
And the main meal: Beef and Black Bean Sauce, Dehydrated:

- Wax paper envelope on the inside of the foil,

- Smells very good!

- The meal re-hydrated well it didn't take too long, i followed the instructions on the bag for the most part.
Lunch Time
-This was a tasty meal, the soup was your basic cup o noodle beef flavored, nothing special.
-The fruit grains were tasty, but a little gritty. Something like a natural or whole fruit snack compared to a processed sugar one.
-The main meal was also very good, i like this better than most any MRE entree yet, it just came back to life to the point that you wouldn't know it was dehydrated none the less a combat ration. This was a very well done entree from spice to sauce to meat to veg's i am impressed.

Time for another snack, I'm moving so its going to be the bars.
Both look nice, smell good and are soft texture wise with a slight stickyness
Needed a drink so i went for the Tropical mix, it goes to a liter of water.
When i think tropical i think red mix, like hawian punch or fruit punch, but this was yellow and more like island fruits starfruit pineapple kind of flavor, overall i liked it
Finished up with a pack of gum and the m&m's

- Super Minty

- Normal M&M's
Again i was moving so had less time than usual, but i do wonder what the forest fruits were compared to the tropical fruits in the bars, i ate both in a bit of a hurry and wasn't able to get pictures of the tropical one at all. (although it looked just like the other two.)
It was nice being on the move to have enough pieces to get a good snack with out cooking or eating something cold i would like better hot.

Evening Update
Its been a long day, but i haven't been hungry, i used another drink powder and the coffee mix, nothing special, instant coffee, powder creamer and sugar, both were good.
I also traded away the condiments for some more coffee but i snapped an image first.

While thoes are cooking i will make some tea
A few minutes later it was time to Eat!
The tea needed some time still to finish brewing
Again the entree was amazing, this time it tasted like Shepard's Pie
So i added the potato to complete the effect
Very good, texture, taste, balance of spice all right on target. I hope they still get this menu, its great.
Tea needed milk
Much Better, but i felt like some sugar and had used it all, so i used some of the confectionery spread i had left
That did the trick and i was finished with the meal.
Im done for the day i ate the other pack of gum and have some things left. I may add a post later to include them:
I still have:
Tuna
Vitalife crackers
Vegemite
Raspberry candy
Plum Fruit Spread
Overall this was a very good meal, enough food of good variety with few flaws, if you have the opportunity to get one you shouldn't be disappointed.

Wow, great review!! That certainly looks like a day's worth of food.
I love the tube food that the Australian rations come with. Chocolate cream in a tube - yum. I wish they sold that sort of thing at retail everywhere.
Are the fruit grains like little bits of fruit leather from your description? From its name I would have been expecting something more like a granola mixture myself. I am happy to see some somewhat less-processed fruit end up in rations occasionally. Speaking of which, that tropical fruit drink is disturbingly yellow!
