- Bezpłomieniowy chemical heater

Big_jo,

I have two questions for you: 1) judging from the picture it doesn't look like there is much in the rations for 24 hours and 2) why is there a Firefighter ration? I'm guessing their country's Firefighters are not as local as the US?

Maybe I can help you to answer your questions:

Thats the company making the Polish rations:

http://www.arpol.net.pl/index.php/en

The offer lots of military and civilian typ rations. Their fire fighters are as local as yours, but in case of long-term firefights (bush/woodland), they need a supply.
The longest "run" I was in person was a flood in East Germany. I was three times three consecutive days there. We got food from field kitchens and the MREs I brought with me

@ Treesuit:

It contains two main entrees, which I think contain a little more food than an MRE main entree (these ones are in a foil tray and weigh 300g - not sure how that compares), but there is also several packs of hard crackers, crispbread, two small cans of pate, condensed milk, instant soup, chocolate and other items - it adds up to over 3500 calories and I think there will be plenty there for a day!

I'll upload photos as soon as I have an evening free.

Here you can see the 24hour ration (large dark green bag, alongside a military MRE and the two firefighter's rations (blue bags).

I'll get to the contents of the 24 hour ration another time when I am feeling hungry

I sampled the delights of the firefighter's ration today for my lunch:

Opening it up, I was slightly underwhelmed by the contents:

We have the main entree, some hard biscuits and a bar of chocolate. In this case, the main entree is saurkraut and pork stew.

The entree, ready to eat:

It actually tasted pretty good :D With the seasoning available in the accessory pack it goes down really well, with chucks of real (not re-formed) pork and lots of sauerkraut.

The HotPack MRE heater is actually very good - it is much larger than military heaters I have used and seems to heat up to higher temperatures.

All in all, with the chocolate (which was very good) and the hard biscuits, it was a decent meal, and I didn't feel hungry again for quite some time. Well done Arpol!

Very nice review, thx for it :D

Did you notice they are using the same containers for their entrees as are in German EPas?

I thought they must be something similar, but I have never gotten around to having an EPA - any good ones to recommend?
