I visited Germany a couple times for training with the Army, to Bavaria, and I thought it was one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Do you remember where?!

mreheater72, German_EPA, Jubifahrer and me are from Bavaria :D

Yes- It was the Combined Maneuver Training Center near Hohenfels.

Miserable, hard training to be sure, but worth it for the Hefeweizen!

Hi Housil- Thanks for the link. Great read.

I think this is the first time I've ever been in the "Off-Topic" forum.

I've always had it in mind to go back to visit Bavaria now as a free man and spend as much time in the tavern as I'd like. :D

Charcoal makers club? WOW! I never knew such a thing like that existed. Over in the US we have large companies that make charcoal, I did not realize in the rest of the world you had to have a club to make the charcoal...:)

Very nice pictures.

Yep, we too - but thank you for promoting us to the "rest of the world" :D

It´s a (very) small town with a population of~200.
It´s an old tradtion from the stoneage back I guess. The name is Glasofen (founded 1102), means they had melt glas in ovens back in 1692...
Now they are making charcoal a couple of times just for fun, it´s not a company, it´s a club :D

From the profit of selling their choarcoal, they improof their place, hut etc. having a festival with Volksmusic, Bratwurst, Beer... once a year

For the rest of the year "we" locals can "rent" the clubs place for our own festivals...

Looks like a good time. You sure do like your military gear. :D The only gear I have left is my beret, 1974 model Canadian forces parka, and a grenade pin from my GMT.

Nice reviews on the food as well.
