Great post Steve, You had a smorgasbord of rations and vintage equipment. I am going to say the meat pates look just the ticket for mid day meal. I think that type of spread on hard crakers or bread is the best for short stops. Filling but easy to prepare and eat in field. The Germans seem to have good looking products if you like that sort of food.(I do! ) By the way the beef stew does look good.
I like that pistol, you need one in the backwoods. The camping area looks very cool

Another fantastic submission from good ol' steve1989. Camping in February eh? Last time I did that it was -33F and my friends and I were fairly close to freezing to death. It was a great time, and if I recall correctly I think I did have an MRE while I was out there.

Is Bert a Beretta M9 or something else? Really like the color scheme on it (him?)

Yessir, February camping was even kinda cold here in the evenings. It dropped to maybe 40F which is cold for my Floridian behind! Holy crud!!! -33F!?! That's insane!! You guys coulda used some RCW's! (Rafco!)
Heck yeah, keeping it real with some MRE's on the camping trips is the only way for me. That and eating any fish I catch (too windy this last time the little fishies weren't interested.

Yessir, Bert the Nine is a Beretta 92FS, Stainless Steen Inox with Tritium Night Sights. 20 round mag w/ Black Talons. I love the little feller.

Me too! Thanks so much, Elandil! That utensil set is my go-to now! Gonna take it on every trip and it now resides in the Rav4. I gotta send you this WW2 Mess Fork on the next package I send to you, I actually forgot my utensils on a hike from camp with a Spanish Ration from Ruleryak on the last trip last December - I got pics am sharing on my next post. I had to eat Octopus with a knife like a true Spaniard!!

Man, that breakfast at the end was the perfect departing meal! Quite the morale boost. It was all darn good!

Bert the Nine is a Beretta 92fs Stainless Steel Inox - night sights, I have a 20 rounder with black talons loaded with 3 more mags in the glove with other varying hollow points. 1 extra 20 rounder and 2 15's. plus about 10 more mags at home.
Had the fella since 2010, fired maybe 1500 rounds through him with no hiccups, and he's my pal! Hahahah!

Right on, rattattoo! We both have a real nice car! Mine is like 200,812 miles right now. Tons of trash on the passenger side and junk all in the back - tons of cd's too! Everything .. Huey Lewis & the News, Willy Deville, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Brian Ferry, The Lounge Lizards, and Robert Palmer in the thing. Just tons of cool tunes, empty water bottles, broken AC, broken window motors, gas efficient, dirty as heck with plant matter from work, my 9mm in the glove, knightstick, 3 knives, US Marines Trauma Kit, a bunch of heat-stressed MRE's, and a partridge in a pair tree!

The meat pates are amazing at any time of the day, and the only thing wrong with them is there's not enough! hehe
I love the bread and Hartkeks - both are filling and Hartkeks perfect for nibbling - and you're right the stuff was easy to eat even on the move (I was sittin' pretty and hardly moving this time. I usually trek way more this time I was recharging).
I am glad we can agree the German's food is delicious - I hope to land a couple more EPA's, when I do I will save you one my friend!
The beef stew was awesome - it was the best I had in any Ration.

The Beretta is essential - we have Coyotes, Wild Boar, Water Moccasins, and crazy people in Florida. It's a dangerous place!

The camping spot is super relaxing and cushy - I wanna go back already!

No shit, I can tell you right now a midnight visit by a pack of coyotes can really screw your night..

Those coyotes can be a threat. At the hammock hang last fall people were talking about the previous year when there was a 3AM awakening to a pack of coyotes running right through the grove where all the hammocks were hung up.
...of course, there were some others who had been there who said it was just the property owner's Chihuahua who had snatched a donut...
