Indonesian T2 P & FD-3

Post by steve1989 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 3:21 am

The T2 P is the 4.5 pound thermostabilized retort option to the T2's.

The FD-3 is a 600 gram box of a milky drink mix with corn flakes.

The T2 P really seems like a JSDF but without the amazing FRH, but with the added drink mixes and ever-amazing "Enertabs" - a complete food - similar to the 'Survival Tabs' that you can pick up anywhere - but in larger cubes. There is a vanilla and chocolate flavor so far from what I've found.
The T2's all have an Esbit-style stove - I skipped using it for this T2 P for I boiled the mains in the pouch for about 10 minutes. Rice and mains heated perfectly - nothing off putting in flavors from too much preservatives/processing.

The Indonesian Rations are well balanced - not too much reliance on sugar and cheap fats for bolstering the calorific content of the Ration.
It's well made - the meat isn't overly processed say like a Chinese PLA or Singapore Ration. It's still processed - I mean, it's not in the realms of a Russian IRP for meat quality.. but it's not too far off.

The drink mixes are incredibly interesting!

First off we have Viteral - it's much like "Brawndo, The Thirst Mutilator!" (If you don't get that joke, my apologies)
It's much like a Gatorade or PowerAde but with about twice the added electrolytes and also a range of added vitamins.
The Minkal and Minsus drinks surely were different - the one I had for dinner was certainly designed to be mixed with hot water - I did not do this.. it was still enjoyable although not fully mixed.
The Minsus was amazing - one was like a spicy mocha and the other like a hot chocolate with just a small amount of coffee.

The best main was lunch - the chicken and potatoes were awesome (was that a potato or a root?). A tad bit of sweetness to that light gravy - it was savory and easy to eat. So was the marinated beef for breakfast - no real order to the mains, but I think actually the dinner I picked (fish meat balls) was maybe best for breakfast -but who knows.

The mains were all pretty mild in flavor - not overly spicy or notable other then pleasantly savory and a tad salty - and by the way.. that sticky rice is on par with a JSDF in quality.

The FD-3 is best mixed with hot coffee - I think each box is about 5 or 6 servings for a creamy breakfast in a cup - perfect for a 16 oz coffee and is a perfect on the go meal. The box of FD-3 calls for 10 servings at 4 Tablespoons each - I say that makes for maybe an 8oz glass - not too bad.

Indonesian Rations are pretty neat - I love 'em!

Will be back with the T2 PJ and SP!

FD-3 is a neat drink mix!

Mix the chocolate with coffee for a sublime experience.

I love this fd-3 stuff - but its not something many on the US can afford to enjoy unless commercially available one day.

Very cool review! Interesting that they have essentially a drink mix packaged in a "ration" box too!

No, the enertabs are different. The white ones that I had tasted like Vanilla / Mango milkshake. They have this milky or creamy taste.

I'd really like to get a nutritional rundown of the eneritabs. I tried a vanilla Indonesian eneritab today from a fresh ration, and got a medicinal aftertaste. I'm just really curious what's in these little things :/

BTW: the strawberry FD-3 is amazing! Awesome texture and milky, strawberry flava!
