Lunch by the River RCIR Menu No 8 Part 2 Sausages in Spicy Sauce with Rice

Post by Yowie » Fri May 13, 2016 9:16 pm

Happy weekend Guys,
Here is part two of my Riverside lunches.
This is upstream of the last spot by a couple of miles, not quite so picturesque. Perhaps a little more rugged (certainly the road to get here is anyway :) )

You can see where the water gets to in flood. Lots of snags and sand bars at the moment though
Lunch today:

Spicy Sausages and Crackers

On my favorite cooker

Something to look at while waiting for my lunch to cook
And while I am waiting I will crack open some crackers.....

Salt and sweet

Not to badly damaged.
Consideringthese have travelled halfway around the world at least once, probably more than that. Then a couple thousand mile on sometimes indifferent Australia roads, they have physically held up well. On the taste side the sweet were a litle soft but still really good. The salt on the other hand had a funny after taste that just got worse. Ultimately I ate all the sweet and fed the salts to the fishes.
The main is ready

This looks great real sausages awesome smell.

these look like good sausages
This was a great meal. The sausages were a treat and the sauce was about perfect. The rice was well cooked no hard bits. Would recommend this anytime.

All done , I am looking for more :(
Thats about it for Menu 8, only a couple of caramels, and drinks left. It was missing the Milky dessert though? I would be pretty happy if this was what I had been issued after a hard day.

I enjoyed your photos and think being on a small river is as near heaven as you can get.
So the Sausages and rice looked very good for lunch. What cooker did you use?

I could not see Yowie in the picture either, you have good camouflage mate

Great pics and thx for sharing. The French also have another sausages dish, but with lentils. To me, I like the lentils but the sausages are way too fat to me. How were these?

thanks for all the replys guys, keep looking
@housil, these sausages were very good, not too much fat at all good flavour and texture. My Mother and Father kill their own beasts each year ( Angus steers, the last one dressed over 400kg's) and my cousin does the butchering, his sausages are the best. Mum wont let me raid the freezer for them anymore when I am home, I only get my rations of them :( .
