Re: IMP Cabbage Roll review
The church? Why not, in Paris under the Polish Catholic church, there's a good Polish restaurant installed in the former crypt!

My grandmother to had a fantastic recipe of cabage stuffed with rice very similar to your sarmale, I'm sure I'd love this one

Re: IMP Cabbage Roll review
Now I am looking forward to trying this IMP- I have 3 of them bought in a mixed lot.
I was hesitating to try them as I am of Ukrainian descent and I make awesome cabbage rolls.
But now..........I just may have them for lunch today!

Re: IMP Cabbage Roll review
Will do a review Amak.once I get to eating them- so far i have bought 3 boxes of IMPs-mostly lunch & supper menus from 2006 & 2007.
I have tried the minestrone stew (good), beef macaroni(good), navarin(fantastic)
As I have multiples of the Salmon & Cabbage rolls..they will be on my try first list!

Re: IMP Cabbage Roll review
You can thank/blame me for the addition of Ritz Bits cheese and peanut butter crackers in Canadian Forces ration packs. I was teaching armoured crewman courses in Valcartier, Quebec around 1997 or 98 and I thought those snack packs would be a great addition to IMPs, so I filled out the little survey that sometimes gets tucked between IMP boxes, stapled it and sent it via internal mail (I used to be an admin clerk, use the system!) and lo and behold when a year or two later someone sitting next to me opens their IMP and says "Holy sh*t, Ritz bits!"
It seems like something small, but we all had our favourite items in ration packs (Chicklet bingo anyone?) and I've seen recruits sitting in a muddy trench in the rain get excited for finding Ritz bits in their IMP. I'm glad to have made a contribution to IMP lore. At least once each course I would have all my candidates take out a pen and fill out the survey on ration packs and mail them all in to NDHQ. Too bad they don't hold up so well after 7 years.

First of all, welcome to forums.
As much as I know, the Canadians were the only ones having this survey with the rations.

Re: IMP Cabbage Roll review
Cabbage rolls are nearly a winter staple food among most middle and Eastern European peoples. I grew up among Poles, Lithuanians, Germans, and others. I'm of Czechoslovakian stock myself. So I can taste cabbage rolls just from hearing the words -- AND smell them cooking! LOL! Good, honest peasant food, sir. We'd call it comfort food here in the States. Old World Soul Food, if you prefer.
Great review, good sir. Thank you.
