HDR #4 meal

Post by SCOTTYB1963 » Thu Oct 11, 2018 6:20 pm

Finally got around to trying one of the humanitarian daily rations I recently acquired. It has a date of 2012 and it is the #4 meal. So far I had the cinnamon pastry unfrosted, delicious, the short bread cookies with strawberry jam, also delish and the peas in tomato sauce. It was also delish. I did taste the black eyed peas in tomato sauce first but added my favorite chipotle Tabasco to liven it up a bit.

I bought a case of these after seeing Steve1989 video review of the same. I will try the rest of the meal soon and report back but I would expect it to also be very good.

I was interested in them as they are vegetarian. I like my meat but I also eat veggie meals.

I was pleasantly surprised just how good this one is. I do plan to try some of the others.

I haven't had a bad one yet. They made them simple and they had as great shelf life!

So as a late night snack I had the vegetable crackers, they are dense and not like regular crackers. The peanut butter was also different from my old stand by Jiff. Both were very good. Crackers did not taste stale at all and the peanut butter had a nice creamy consistency with good flavor.

I may order another case of these. I see the price went up a bit on fleabay. $84 shipped makes them around $8 a pop.

Anyone know where they might be had cheaper?

That sounds like a good price. I spent 40 for 5.

10-4, figured it was a good price. They had been $59+20 to ship. Never hurts to ask.

Had the rice and veggie entree , again very good. The fig bar was also good but had stuck to the inside of the packaging slightly. Not a big deal.

The only thing I notice on the ingredients list is they are kind of high in sodium. But in a potential situation these were created for that would be a low priority.

Looking forward to trying some of the others meals.
