The tube I had from the brit ration was a definate umami flavor with a beery finish. I didn't find it too salty, but my tastes on the matter may be a little skewed. Would love to try mixing it with some molasses and butter as a finishing sauce for a good grilled piece of pork.

Hello!
I have few tubes of yeast extract/marmite lying around.
If some brave soul wants to try, I can send tube or two.
Just throw me PM!
If postage is cheap I will send it free.

How exceptionally kind of you, good sir. As the thread-starter, I have mine (although it is running low now) but I encourage others to take you up on your offer. I find that it grows on me and even though I limit my enjoyment of it due to the extremely high salt content, I DO like the stuff.
