New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
Hello MRE Info, today I will be reviewing. Two Hormel Completes Good Mornings. Something new that caught my eye at the grocery.
The picture quality is inconsistent. As for some reason, neither camera or I could seem to cooperate with each other.
Sausage Gravy & Roasted Potatoes: This is pretty good. A good mixture of potatoes and sausage. The gravy has a distinct pepper taste to it.
Sausage Breakfast Scramble: This was something different. This is the first shelf stable egg entree I have found outside of a MRE. There is a lot of egg in this.
The sausage and the potatoes were nearly the same as the first entree. Just substitute the gravy for scrambled eggs. There was a hint of butter or something else.
I could not quite figure it out.

How filling are these? At 350 calories, I'm hoping one is a meal unto itself for a man with a hearty appetite.

I had a couple of them and they were enough food to me.Apocalypse wrote:How filling are these? At 350 calories, I'm hoping one is a meal unto itself for a man with a hearty appetite.

Apocalypse: I would have to say the egg entree is more filling. It has more bulk. I ate both as I made the review. The gravy entree first and then the egg. Getting through the last half of the sausage and egg scramble took a little effort. Two or three cups of coffee didn't help. Though either could stand alone. I tend to have a large appetite by the time I decide to eat, so I tried to go through both.

Re: New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
Shelf life of about 15 months it looks like - I wonder how long they'd actually last if kept in the right conditions.
Re: New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
Shelf stable meaning they don't require refrigeration? Hmmmmm. I assume you microwave them to warm them.
Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.
Re: New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
In Walmart I bought them not refrigerated.
Re: New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
Yep, shelf stable as in not requiring refrigeration or other special need. Just keep them out of high temperatures. Average shelf life is roughly 12+ months. Though I imagine if stored properly. They could last longer. You can heat them in the microwave, or you can heat them in a pot of boiling water. I have seen someone heat them in an electric kettle on this site.
Re: New Hormel Completes Good Mornings
I tried the Breakfast entree of Scrambled Eggs and bacon also on a January Jeep camping trip
But I wanted to use the boil in the bag method
No microwave in the Jeep
So I removed them and put them in a vacuum seal bag
Was very happy to get a egg entree. .
Used the trusty Swede Army stove to heat it up and had MRE hash browns as the side.
The Bag held up and did not melt. Left it on boil for about two minutes then took it off the flame and let it seep in the water
The flavor was 6 on 1 to 10 and texture was a little to mushy, but within tolerance
It needed salt, pepper Tabasco and some cheese grits as a extra side.
Again to echo other comments, it was not filling.
I think they are a good alternative to add variety to the limited MRE breakfast entrees
On a Cold Morning they will do as long as they are very hot and spiced up

Great pic´s as always!
Do you use the Austrian camo pattern puppy tent for a special reason?
How exactly is that working?Norton wrote: But I wanted to use the boil in the bag method

So did you use the bag direct on the flame?!Used the trusty Swede Army stove to heat it up and had MRE hash browns as the side.
