Wow, a coffee enema?! If I recall correctly, Colonel Blake asked if the patient was to get cream and sugar with the coffee enema, and that's how he wound up at MASH 4077!

There's a Japanese caffeine gum that I get at Asian markets called Black Black that's not too bad.

Thank you, laughing_man. I think I'll not be able to try it very soon, the postage will cost more than the gum itself... :)

I got home just a few days ago from a 2700 mile trip, much of which I was chewing Stay Alert gum. It cut through just about any form of drowsiness and kept me awake and attentive well past the point where I'd have had to call it quits for the day otherwise. I've had Penguin Mints before, never really had the same lasting effect that the Stay Alert gum has. I've had a handful of other caffeinated items like juices and energy bars in FSRs but haven't really had them do the trick quite like the gum.

Actually, when you think about it, anyone who is in good physical shape (i.e. soldiers, or those in other professions which require good physical shape), are not likely to have conditions like high blood pressure which could be made worse by consuming large amounts of caffeine. Friends of mine who are/were medical officers have told me that our soldiers and those from other countries who are Iraq and Afghanistan are burning so many calories and pretty much everything else they take in on a daily basis that lots of caffeine and even excess sodium are not likely to hurt them.
