This MRE is almost an exact duplicate to the first generation early eighties U.S. Military MRE. This meal even included the old school Chocolate covered Oatmeal Cookie

It's all good. I had thought they were 2009s at first. Mine were absolutely cooked though. Completely inedible, even the crackers. Good to see a surviving one.

Legions of people have made the same mistake. It's a problem, the 4 digit code sucks. Going to the 5 digit format will really help.
That yours tasted so good is a testament to how well that case was stored. Sampling and reviewing old rations is far more interesting to me anyways. You scored a case that's honestly more valuable than current. Nice review!
