BB, I do think you are a Luddite!
Microwaves are not the end all answer, but are handy for what they're designed for...Reheating already cooked food.
They are horrid at most real cooking, but I can cook a potato in three minutes vice 1 hour, and in hot climes, thats a lot of heat inside the house!

This is the last part about my hatred of microwaves.

I dont feel comfortable eating food that has been agitated at the molecular level through intense cavity magnetron induced magnetic fields.

Call me old fashioned but I like stuff grilled fried baked roasted or boiled.

I thought that sounded familiar...

My wife brought some of these home the other day. The sodium count on them is through the roof! Way too salty for me.

That's normal in civillian ready to eat foods. It's mostly used to cover the limited use of ingredients and for conservation reasons. Vegetables and such are quite expensive compared to pasta like ingrediënts. That is why they use salt as an flavour enhancer. Military rations use better ingredients, but therefore also cost more money. Military rations are (besides of conservants in the older ones) far healthier then civillian ready to eat meals.

There is nothing wrong with salt though, you actually need salt a lot. Especially with warmer weather because of transpiration. Just make sure that you don't eat to much of it. It might cause things like a high bloodpressure.

If you are heavy, watch out with salt, because a lot of salt might have an impact then. If not, the only reason not to eat it is your own likings. I actually like salty food, but only added salt, not in meals themselves.
Sure, someone may one day kill me with my own gun.
But they'll have to beat me to death with it because it's empty.

Mrs. Housil is on duty and I´m alone at home, so let´s give another one a try for lunch:
Hormel 002.JPG
A low-fat dish, perfect to/for me :D
Hormel 004.JPG
I nuked it the recommended 90 sec at 600W, so it was warm enough.
The dish had a nice tast, just had too add a dash of salt  The texture of the noodles and the chicken was still "solid", nice to eat.
