UGR Eggs
UGR Eggs
I ordered several bags of UGR BIB Dehydrated Eggs w/Butter. The outer bag gives no indication of preparation and I started asking around but no answers. These are produced by Mountain House for the govt.
I decided to open one and see if I could prepare these. Luckily the directions are on the bag. Mixing directions are straight forward, uncap bag and add water to fill line. Shake and knead until mixed. It says these are a boil in bag. I would not recommend this unless you have a UGR cooker. I tried using a pot and melted part of the bag. Instead I tried them in a frying pan. I decided to add some cubed ham I had plus salt, pepper and a little cheese. They came out like I had cracked the eggs myself. There is a slightly different taste which I am guessing had to do with the butter flavor. Overall, if you need the equivalent of roughly 18 scrambled eggs for a meal them these will fit the bill. I hope you enjoyed.

Re: UGR Eggs
Nice review! I've always been curious about those. I've seen them on eBay before, but I've never had them yet. I need to get one to try out. Thanks for sharing!
Re: UGR Eggs
I have wondered about those as well. How do they compare to the Eggs in the LRP rations, which I,m not a big fan of?
it is what it is....

Great - thx for the review!
I guess it touched the hot bottom of the pot?shawker71 wrote:

The eggs in the LRP are cooked and then freeze dried. These are raw eggs that have been dehydrated.sourwes wrote:I have wondered about those as well. How do they compare to the Eggs in the LRP rations, which I,m not a big fan of?
Housil, yes I am guessing it touched on the bottom. UGR cooking stoves have a perforated basket inside to protect the items being boiled if I am not mistaken

Re: UGR Eggs
The way you cooked them in the pan is better, every time I had these "boiled in bag" either the cooks added too much water, or the excess water failed to evaporate from the bag causing "watery" eggs....

Re: UGR Eggs
I actually love scrambled dehydrated eggs over fresh scrambled eggs..I got some of these off eBay and received them today. Got 1 bag of the eggs, a tray of gnarly sausage links and a tray of maple/breakfast cake that's oh so moist! God bless trans fats! I'll prolly make some eggs tonight and do them up in small batches (obviously..unless I'm feeding a company). The links tho..oh mannnn lol. I guess they're ok..kinda plastic-y and oily. They had a production date of August 2012.
Re: UGR Eggs
Nuworldmann, I have the links as well. I had to freeze them After opening the 5.5lb tray. I am going to take a stab you got them from Chris from TX on eBay. I have bought a bunch of stuff from him.

Yep, got them from Chris..he's definitely got alot of stuff that's for sure. I love rations but it's nice to see some of the UGR components too!

As I don´t like sausages at all, I never had any sausage tray ration yet and if I see that opened one - I won´t in the future too. Starving isn´t that bad once you got used to it...
But I like to hear how they tasted to you.
