Excellent review!
I still haven't had the pleasure to acquire that specific MCW yet! Looks yummy!
I had that same Entree from 2005 though - I love Spicy Oriental Chicken with Rice. Last one I had was August 1st, 2013. I snuck it into Universal Studios Park here in Orlando Florida and the hardest part was getting hot water in there for it... the darn people asked me "what do you want the hot water for?" I said it was for my Earl Grey Tea that I brought in and then they finally SOLD me the water for $3.00. hahahah!
That entree is great, you can taste alot of soy sauce and it's salty & savory. I think it has water chestnuts & in it too which I found pretty nice along with some bell peppers. Not a cheap meal.. they are fantastic!
Well done & congrats on being the fist fella to show the world the Army Freeze Dried Ice Cream!

Another first I hadn't noticed - the "No Fruit Juice" portion of the beverage label. Definitely an interesting ration overall

Sorry for delay but here is the rest!
Oriental-style Spicy chicken & vegetables with rice.
I never had these freeze-dried foods before, even being as chef and cook almost 20 years. (Now acting as conductor.)
Better late than never I guess?
So, this is food before reconstitution:
Looks very nice!
Colours of vegetables are bright and food texture is crisp. Very impressed.
So I added water as instructed and let it sit 15min.
Results:
Mayyybeee I put little bit too much water....
People in Oregon Freeze Dry, Inc should pat themselves at back. It was that good!.
Beans were recognisable and mouthfeel was still there. Even water chestnuts and bell peppers were crispy and tasty.
There was some spiciness from chili and garlic I think but not too much.
Only rice is suffered little-bit from that "take all water out/suck all air out/vacuumpac/put all water back" in thing. So, rice was little soft.
I must say that whole MCW meal is fine example of today's food technology and its capabilities.
Amazing, really.
