a couple of weeks ago I opened some vintage US group ration cans and trays with tiny leaking holes:
• FRANKFURTERS CANNED WHOLE (Can)
• BEANS IN TOMATO SAUCE FLAVORED WITH BACON (Tray Ration)
• CHOCOLATE PUDDING (Tray Ration)
All rations were stored in my basement, I cannot remember that the containers leaked when I was stocking them, beside the pudding. I opened the containers in a corn/grain field near my home, so I had no problem with disposing the contents of the rations

No I want to show a review with photos of that stretching event

Let´s begin with the FRANKFURTERS:
Upper lid of the can "FRANKFURTERS CANNED WHOLE" packed by BRIAN BROTHERS PACKING CO.. The finish is in a bad condition, also some heavy dents are apparent

Close-up of the printed code "FD48" no idea of the meaning and the age of the can. Do you have?

Close-up of a heavy dent of the can at the rim, here the can is leaking through a tiny hole

Side-view of the can, see the rust and the dents

Another side-view of the can, see the rust and the dents

The bottom lid of the FRANKFURTERS can

That photo was shot after opening the can with a P38 can opener. The condition of the 19 little FRANKFURTERS is surprisingly good

Another close-up of the FRANKFURTERS, the smell was ok

The FRANKFURTERS out of the can, the white matter you can see is cold fat

Another view of fhe FRANKFURTERS out of the can

View into the empty can, no corrosion, all ok

Close-up into the can, here you can see the leaking point from the interior of the can

The next day all FRANKFURTERS were lost, so at least a fox or some other animal get happy with that nice meaty meal
