Hey MREHEATER72,

I have two for you that I'm sure neither one of us has seen and probably nobody else around here as well. I can't guess on the dates and the camera flash obscures the listing of contents but the first one is a slate grey A-pack with minimal contents.

ACCESSORY PACK A
COFFEE
CREAM
SUGAR
SALT CHEWING GUM
MATCHES
TOILET PAPER

The second one is a dark brown version with the first appearance of HOT SAUCE. 8)
ACCESORY PACKET A
CREAM
SUGAR
CANDY (not sure which variety)
CATSUP
HOT SAUCE
SALT
CHEWING GUM
MATCHES
TOILET PAPER

Both made by the RIGHT AWAY FOODS CORP. Any Guesses?

Treesuit, thanks for that nice complements to the A-Pack-collection :D :D !

An Accessory Pack in grey color, wow, that´s absolutely new to me. And also the A-Pack E with Hot Sauce, that´s really weird   ! If you look to the MRE menu list, you can´t find that!

You live and learn :) !

I think that grey one is an A pack from a 1990 or maybe earlier (mid late 80s?) Food Packet Long Range Patrol.

The contents match up precisely.

Wow,

Those ARE very rare! I just found them at a local Army surplus store for a few cents and wondered what they came out of. The Accesory Packet E with hot sauce was one I never saw before so I figured right off the bat that it was kind of rare. Though the grey version would be fun to figure out which ration it came out of.

TS they seem to have started putting in hot sauce (Im assuming its a mini tabasco) quite early, like the mid eighties.
Still trying to find some supporting stuff from literature.

In that topic

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1069&hilit=display&start=10

you can see (scroll down, first pic of norge) in the display case of norge (left in the bottom row) a pouch of TABASCO and bottles in unusual shape; I guess those a very early ones! Norge do you know how old they are and to which ration they belong?

the bottles came from 1986/87 mres, not shure about which the menues since
i gott them in a old mre case from 1987 without the main pouches
along with the meals and crackers, spreeads and so on lose.
so since the meals had 1986 and 1987 dating i asume they are from the same period.

these are the only ones i have ever found in old mres so im not shure
if it was a trail or regular issue

one of the bottles was in a accessory packet E along with a fudge bar chocolate :D

cheers ken

Norge,

That could be it; a version that is very rare. Now I don't want to open it and spoil the surprise.
