Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations

Post by mreheater72 » Tue Jan 20, 2009 2:26 pm

Hi guys,

the next days/weeks I want to introduce a collection of sealed ACCESSORY PACKETS from all different kinds of US rations (MCI; MRE; RCW; Food Packet, In-Flight Individual; Food Packet, Individual, Assault; Halal). In addition to the kind of ration I will differ between packer, kind of modality and contents.

Most of the ACCESSORY PACKETS I will show here I got loose, without regard to the original complete ration or ration case, so in most cases I don’t know the exact year of packaging (especially the elder ones have no date code). But if I know the age or had found a date code, I will add it to the description as a matter of course.

I will introduce maximum two packets with each photo, and then I will list the contents and the packer when available so as mentioned on the each wrapper.

The first part of the review should show ACCESSORY PACKETS which were part of MCIs (MEAL, COMBAT, INDIVIDUAL). Further on I will divide them into two chapters: Pre 1972 and post 1972, because 1972 was the year the cigarettes of the ACCESSORY PACKETS were discharged.

Very nice collection norge :D . I have many dark brown MREs packed by CINPAC, still sealed, but no loose CINPAC Accessory Packet. See those for the first time today :o ! That is a reason for opening a CINPAC MRE  !

Nawt, thanks for your interest :D !

Here is a photo of the “CATSUP”, it was part of the MRE Accessory Packets D and E between 1981 and 1987. I reconstituted one, I guess 25 years ago, but I can’t remember the taste. It was designated to use it with the "Pork Patties Dehydrated" and the "Frankfurtes".

In addition here is a photo of a “SOUP AND GRAVY BASE, BEEF FLAVORED”, it was part of the MRE Accessory Packets B between 1981 and 1987.

I remember to that one I had back in ~1992.

Dehydrated "Meet" patty. Adding two spoons of water made a very delicious ketchup (not hot/spicy)
:D

Still have two bags of them
