Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations

Hey Chowline, I'll save the case, various wrappers, and this specific one photographed for you. Doing my review right now and parting with a few of them potentially next month. Scored a complete RIC to review finally, albeit rough. The ever going joke of that RIC case lives on. Still stored off in a tub for now. It's even rougher. Not many of those left in any condition. Despite so many being produced for the Korean War. Looks like about 169,000 Frigid Trails of this generation were made. Roughly. Arctic Trail-1 prototype, only 5,000. Imagine finding an AT-1.

All that sounds fantastic. Yeah those Frigid rations are tough to find, but its a good thing you document them so well. Also, you and I were in a bidding war for that RIC on e-bay it seems! Totally tried to get that for the collection, especially since it had the meat unit cans and that accessory packet. The seller has another for sale right now, but it seems you and I set the price as they are asking the same for this second example as the first sold for.

I have seen the inside of an authentic haversack ration, a fellow collector opened his for me so I could document and reproduce it. I have attached the photos for you here of his opened original. You want one fully replicated with contents? I also attached some photos of a repro or two I have made of it.

Oof I'm sorry about that with the RIC. Wish one of us could find a bunker full of cold stored ones so we could eat some fresh Mother's brand sandwich cookies. Imagine puttin old PB on one. Hmm

Well, I wonder if the other RIC is in better shape. High price might even keep us away.. was a heat of the moment bid. All depends on what mood two bidders or more are in to determine a price of some old ration.

Just looked at my TF-2s again. Man, it's surreal having them. Love old M&Ms, and the packaging and smell of the chocolate... one has a small tear and I can smell em. Old candy, it's fascinating. Got some old novelty candy boxes from 1909 with candy and a small metal toy in each.

That's it, the novelty of it. And the smell. I wonder what that old Haversack grocery portion smelled like... that was a real buzz to see. Thank you for sharing that rare look. Imagine taking a repro one out camping and bringing corned beef & hard bread. Might need a fiber supplement, but hey.

You're a true artist with the stuff you've come up with so far. I enjoyed your review on the HDR cookie as well recently.

Missing 1 pack of matches & gum. And two of three spoons missing.

You mentioned that the items in the Norwegian Stay behind TF-2 were unlabeled once before if i remember it correctly.
Are the M&M packets also unlabeled? If so they are probably quite the collectable i would think. guess it's the same with the accessory packets too
Also im curious on something but the Ground meat bars, are they good? Kinda seems like something that would taste pretty great.

This ration was never routinely procured and stocked. It was packed in a corrugated
box inclosed in a waterproof bag. In addition to food components, the ration pack provided
non-woven fabric to clean cooking and eating utensils, a can opener, toilet paper, water
purification tablets, matches, cigarettes, a menu sheet, and a plastic bag. /quote]
