I see why Food Packet Long Range Patrol Rations from 1998 are considered among the best US Military meals ever. Unlike the Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) the LRP contains no water making it very lightweight. These rations have been in use ever since the Vietnam War. They are the perfect on-the-go food option when weight is critical.
