Re: Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Ration
Thanks for the input, fellas! Rulerak, I was totally inspired by when you smoked that old K-ration camel. I have to thank everyone on here for your contributions to the ration documentations that you have done.
Yes, that is an old tootsie roll, by the way - the glare on the picture made it a little hard to make out - I'm going to open it up and even taste test it - I hope it doesn't give me indigestion.
I opened an old Life Raft Tablet Ration and ate literally everything in it earlier today ... while watching The Human Centipede of all things. I'm truly a twisted kid.
Took photo's of the inside of it so I'll post them if anyone is interested.
I also have an old 1977 LRP Spaghetti & Meatsauce that I'm doing a review on soon too.
& The dextro-amphetamine sulphate tablets "go pills" gave me the strangest dreams last night - had a nightmare that I was doing telemarketing work. Scary.
As for everything in that picture ALL of it was inside the accessory packet. That damn thing weighed just over a quarter pound!
I'm smoking one of those cigs and having a cup of some old coffee here either tonight or tomorrow in the daytime (11:11 pm right now).
I will take extensive photo's and will have one of my friends take photos of me smoking that cig & drinking that 60 year old coffee.
Also, Hagen - I have alot of respect for your work on accessory packets - PM me your address and I'll send you some of my own personal accessory packets in my collection as a token of gratitude for your work on this thread and on your inspiring nut cake reviews! heheh
And Rulerak, if you'd like I'll send you the pack of Camels with one or 2 of the cigs that I'm going to leave in it if you promise me to take a picture of you, too smoking one! We can both enjoy this little pack together here! Just PM me your address.
Thankyou again everyone for your support & contributions on MREinfo.

Hi,
now again I want to show an Accessory Packet that is new in my collection
. I guess norge had presented that one before here, but unfortunately his pics don’t work anymore
. It is out of a RCW (Ration, Cold Weather), packed by RAFCO FREEZE DRY, INC.. The "code" on the pouch says "9 1 81 14", sorry, I can’t "translate" that, but I´m rather sure it is from 1989, the first year RCWs were packed.

Re: Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations
An update to MREheater72's amazing thread.
I have a couple of these unlisted acc packets. No contents list.
This one was in rough shape, so I decided to open it.
No coffee instant. Instead, a tea bag! And pepper!
Also, look at that vintage moist towlette.
An interesting find. Was it for an MCI or MRE?
Wish I knew.

These are so cool. I love getting my coffee instant on my modern MREs. I got to start buying vintage!
Great collection guys!
The human centepede Steve? Haha how could you eat?

Re: Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations
Figured I should include my March 1951 dated Accessory Packet can. I did not open it, though I did assemble enough appropriate items from my collection of 1950s ration components to re-create what was packed inside the can. NOTE: The peppermint Topps gum is from 1952-55, and the package of Camel Cigarettes are from 1955. Otherwise, all other components are from 1951. The last second to last photo shows an accessory packet from 1955, and the last photo is of the partial contents of a 1957 produced Accessory Packet. All items are from my personal collection

Re: Collection of ACCESSORY PACKETS from different US Rations
Thank you, I try to find interesting ways to display original rations as well as the reproductions I make. I create reproduction rations, or just reproduction containers for original contents, some are totally clear, some are cutaways, others are open with replica contents, etc. I plan to create clear accessory packets to display the contents of already open ones like what I have put in the case here.

Yes actually, everything I posted there are actually in museum displays. Specifically, those replicas all went to the United States Army Quartermaster Museum at Fort Lee in Virginia.
