baked will turn dark, just look on the english plum pudding
or christmas cake.
The nuts can taste a bit rancid afther some years but its totaly
harmles.
i have opened and eaten many us cold weather mres old stock
and never found any bad nuts :)

Hi norge,

I agree to you, eating rancid nuts or the dark fruits will certainly be harmless, but the taste is awful.

The MRE-Fruit Cake from 1985 (see photo) I opened a few months ago , you remember, was in comparison to the MCI-Fruit Cake in very good condtion!

POUND CAKE.....Now I will take one of those, where is the peaches? All those years and still good, amazing to me. As for the fruit cake, that was one of my favorites when I was in Nam. There was plenty of them because no one wanted them.
Great review of the cakes and rolls.
