Never had that brand,
But...
In the long ago past in the Navy , we had pre-cooked bacon, came in # 10 cans.
Very salty, super thin slices, not very good.
Having said that, it was better than NO bacon.
Bacon sandwich, lots of Mustard, Yum!!
We also had powdered eggs, sterilized milk powder, and S.O.S.!
(I liked SOS!)
SOS = Chipped beef on toast = Sh*t On a Shingle!!!
Pretty good if done right.
Then there was 'Mystery Meat'...

It is just rebranded Yonders. Notice how both have exactly 9 ounces of bacon.
You're absolutely right - Yoder's still holds the claim for being the first and only canned bacon producer in the US. Tac-Bac is just a company with (hopefully) the permission to resell with their own name and markup. Mredepot.com consistently has it available (cases only these days), although you're looking at a month before it ships (they really need to mention that on their site or in the order email though) - because they've got the largest contract with Yoder's. Other sites seem to have some now and then; it's usually more expensive, although sold by the can on most other sites.

Right now I'm waiting on my second case of the stuff, should have it soon. The first case went fast at Burning Man this year!

The master minds at CMMG probably thought it was a really clever idea. However the market this is aimed at would be the type of people to shop around and may actually already know about Yoders.

I've yet to hear a bad review from anyone I've given it to. Got the case I mentioned a little bit ago and went through two cans right away before putting the rest in the storeroom. Between Burning Man and random get togethers I've given some to at least 30 people by now and so far everyone's loved it. I once ate a can by myself, but it took the whole day and was most of what I ate that day. Mmmm bacon!
