Pork rib T ration review

Post by Lifesaver » Wed Apr 02, 2008 8:58 pm

My wife decided to break into one of our T rations for dinner tonight. She picked the imitation pork ribs in barbecue sauce. We fixed a packet of instant mashed potatoes to go with it.

To begin with, there are 18 individual imitation pork ribs in the ration. We took out 4 (2 a piece) for dinner. The rest were put in freezer bags with 4 in each bag (and one bag of 2). Each bag got 2 -3 spoons of sauce added. These all went into the freezer for the next time we want a quick, no fuss meal. Sorry but no photos of this part.

We cheated and heated up tonight's 4 in the microwave. We could have done it in a pan over a camp stove just as easily. The instant potatoes could have been prepared in the same manner.

The imitation pork rib itself was a little dry. There is, however, ample sauce to remedy that. The sauce has a nice smoky, barbecue flavor with just a little bite. The buttery mashed potatoes complimented the pork rib well. After two of the ribs and big scoop of the potatoes, I am comfortably full. I would recommend this T ration to anyone that likes barbecue. We will definitely be getting more of this one for our stores. Photo below.

Looks pretty good. Would you say it was "McRib-ish" in taste?

Yeah, that's a good analogy. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. I expected it to be much blander.

Nice. Looks as good as the pork rib MRE entree or better. One of my favs for sure, they just need to figure out a way to add pickle and onion packets.
