Being brand new to this community I thought purchasing one of the Grab Bag Boxes being offered on this board would be a good way to try several different ration related items. I've been most pleased with the purchase and incredible selection of different items to eat, use, and save. Here is a quick example of how I've been enjoying some of the items included in the Box.
I've lost over 100 pounds over the last 18 months so I do not try to eat an entire Meal in one sitting, but rather spread out the goodness, which is another reason the Grab Bag was a great purchase. Working for a Public School I did not care for the fare on today's menu. This made today perfect to sample some "Soldier Food". For breakfast I opened and enjoyed a 2013 date coded serving of Raisin and Nut Mix. I ate this slowly and enjoyed every bite, chasing it with a 2012 date coded Orange Beverage Powder. The Nut Mix did not have near the saltiness of peanuts that one might purchase in a store from Planters, or the like. The Beverage Powder took a little extra effort to mix, perhaps because I was using cold water. Once dissolved the Orange Beverage made a nice chaser for the Mix and made up an almost perfect calorie combination for breakfast.
Four or five small meals a day is my eating plan for weight loss, so what to have from the Box for a mid morning snack? Wait, a package of Tootsie Rolls, date coded 2013 were included. The package had two rolls, but I only used one for my snack. It was soft chewy, and delicious. My Box included several "Mains" and "Sides" for a possible lunch at work.
Since I'll be working in a press box tonight for a ball game and they will serve pizza, I wanted to stay light for lunch. A perfect choice from the Box turned out to be Fried Rice, Caramel Color Added. The date code on the package is a little confusing to me but perhaps 2015? A sample of the Rice found it to be a little bland, but never fear Salsa del Sol from the Grab Bag to the rescue! This combo along with a salad made for a filling, satisfying, and delicious lunch!
I'm looking forward to sampling some of the "Mains" included in the box. If I have the chance I will certainly purchase another Grab Bag! Good Day!
