US MRE 2014 Menu# 21 Lemon Pepper Tuna

Moving on to Menu #21. Almost finished my first case of Menu B MRE's.
I'm sure there's got to be a better way to describe the contents... that's a lot of commas. Haha
And here we have all of the components. Aside from the tortillas and lemonade it'll be my first time trying most of the items. Seems like a good amount of food, and it all sounds fairly appetizing.
Two drink mixes came with this ration. The lemonade is as good as always, I usually mix it a little stronger than the package calls for. The vanilla dairyshake powder was simply ok, not great but not bad. It was probably my least favourite thing out of the whole MRE. And that's not a knock against the dairyshake, in the grand scheme of things everything in this rations was very good.
Here's the main entree itself. We have tortillas, lemon pepper tuna, salt-free seasoning (Mrs. Dash I assume) and mayo. Certainly seems better than some of the entrees I've had before. While it didn't taste quite as good as the Tuna Puttanesca in the UK 24hr ORP, it was still very nice.
And lastly we have the whole pile of stuff. The smoked almonds were great, the lemon poppyseed cake had a very nice consistency and good lemon flavour, along with a nice sheen of sugar crystals, and the spicy crackers (Hot Cheezits I assume) were a welcome change from regular crackers. I took the broken pieces and put them on one of the tuna wraps for a little added flavour and texture difference, which I'm glad I tried, because it took the tuna to a whole other level, simply fantastic.
All in all this is the best MRE I've had thus far. Even if the components did seem a little random. A great example of how the sum total can be that much better than the individual parts. I'm not even a huge fan of tuna but I would gladly have different flavour variations of this instead of some of the other entree's in various other MRE's.
Thanks for stopping by, have a good one! And I hope my American brethren enjoyed a great Thanksgiving weekend.... we had out last month up here in Canada.
