Menu #20: Pork Sausages in Cream Gravy...... this does not sound very good to me. But hey, I'm Canadian, we consider Poutine to be fine cuisine. Haha
Up first we have the standard Orange beverage powder.... I may have used water that was a bit too cold; there was still a teaspoon sized glob of sugar left in the bottom of the glass the whole time. Tasted great though.
First food item we have is the Blueberries and Milk granola, it's my first time trying this item. It ended up being very nice. Great blueberry taste and they didn't skimp on the amount of blueberries. The inclusion of this component of course seems to show that this ration is intended to be for breakfast.
This main entree.... this picture says it all.... we don't eat white gravy here in Newfoundland EVER. It looks horrible and after two spoonfuls my tastebuds agreed with what the eyes thought. Could certainly just be a regional/cultural issue, I'm sure parts of the US have this sort of thing all the time. There was a nice black-pepper taste coming through, but that's the only good thing I can say about this. Even with some crumbled up crackers thrown in it couldn't salvage things.
Lastly we have the good 'ol crackers and cheese spread. It never lets you down. The Chocolate Banana Nut Muffin Top was once again a strange mix of being both dry and wet at the same time... very strange to the palate. I had hoped that this would not be the case the 2nd time around with this item, but alas, it was exactly the same.
All in all, not a great MRE. I'm sure many will disagree with me on that, but of course, "to each their own", as they say.
PS: Another large Ziploc bag almost full of accessories I don't use. A pile of Flameless Ration Heaters and beverage bags (US and Canadian) as well.
Thanks for stopping by again, have a good one!
