1991 US MRE Oatmeal Cookie Bar

I put out a request for my personal Holy Grail of MRE components.....the Oatmeal Cookie Bar and kman stepped up with one. I saved it until after church tonight so I would have time to photo and savor it.

A pristine example

It was perfect in color, texture and taste and was everything I remember them to be. I had it with a cup of instant Folgers just like the old days. It really took me back to another time. Thank you Kman for your help.

I am still in the hunt for a few more of these if anyone has them.

And that's exactly why I didn't mind ripping into a pristine 1992 Omelet w/ Ham MRE and pulling out that particular jewel for you. Sometimes it's not about the collecting but about the sharing and bringing back the memories. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Now who's brave enough to want the Omelet w/ Ham entree? I can only imagine what kind of memories that'll bring back.

Had I known it came from an omelet w/ham I would have asked for that too. I loved those. What's a little food poisoning amongst friends.

I agree the old school omelette was VERY good! On par also is the old school metal tray pack omelette's if you can find them.

Natick has a knack for making some awesome compressed food bars.. well.. they used to at least.
