This was one of the most bittersweet reviews i've done.

This was the first ration I ever tried, and thanks to Steve1989, I got to re-create that first time feeling. In the video review, you get to learn a lot about me, and what got me started in rations.

the Diced Beef MRE came with a good assortment of items. it had :

Entree
Crackers
Grape Jelly
Fruit, FD - Pears in this case
Lemon Lime beverage mix
Chocolate covered brownie
Cocoa Beverage Powder
Accessory pack A-
Sugar
Cream
coffee, type 1
TP
wintergreen gum
matches
And the old white spoon...

the Good-

Diced beef was still in good shape
Crackers hissed when I opened them, and tasted like new
Cocoa was surprisingly fine, made Camp Mocha with it and the coffee.
FD Pears.....nuff said. :D

the Bad
Creamer had bit the dust, didn't trust it
Brownie seemed fine til I broke it open and saw the nuts. Tried a taste, not happening.

the Ugly
Grape jelly had a vinegar smell
LeLi drink had went hard and brown

suprisingly, after boiling the entree was just fine. Added some spare tabasco I had, scooped bits on the cracker, and had me a great meal washed down with some Camp Mocha.

Brownie had my hopes up til I broke it open, danged nuts. If they hadn't been in there, woulda probably been great.

Jelly and LeLi were no-go on opening. Creamer had an off smell, so didn't risk it.

finished it off with FD Pears and a good cigar while remembering the past.

That was a good meal back then. We all made fun of the fruit but it got eaten up on the march usually. Never was a fan of the chocolate brownie, preferred the oatmeal bar (still looking for one btw). Good review and good background story.

Beef in gravy would be a great meal to bring back. Chances are, nobody now serving would remember it so it would be "new" again. It would be great with crackers, tortillas, or snack bread.
