Meal Kit Supply taste test.... Two menus.

My case of MRE's arrived this afternoon while I was on my run to Kent, WA to pick up my kids for the weekend, so I decided to try a couple out since the kids and I hadn't eaten much today. Both MRE's Split each in thirds between my Son, Daughter and I.
The opinions within are my own (and my kids), Your Mileage may vary!
I forgot to get pictures of the actual food before it got consumed (most of us were very hungry). Sorry.
Both pouches had date codes if 5300. 300th day of 2015. I forgot to look at the individual Julian date codes for each internal item.

Menu 6: Beef Taco, Black Beans in Sauce, TFF Spice Pound Cake, TFF Tortillas, Orange Electrolyte Beverage Powder, Cocoa Beverage Powder, Hot Sauce.
This one was packaged inside a clear, sealed pouch inside the MRE Brown plastic bag.
The Brew kit was inside it's own wrapper, in the clear inner pouch. I do like the extra heavy duty, extra long spoon. That will become my new favorite Morning Coffee stir stick.
Overall, not bad. Not what I expected, but not bad. Thumbs up. My kids wanted nothing to do with Tacos or beans tonight.
My son isn't feeling well, so he did taste things, just not eat the entire portion I gave him. My daughter, at 13, being the bean pole with a hollow leg that she is, ate what her brother didn't.
Individual ratings below:
Taco meat: Tasted like a good Canned Chili. Decent, but not Taco meat. Even better with the Hot Sauce, salt and pepper added in. Slight heartburn, but that's more than likely the hot sauce talkin'.
Beans in Sauce: Good and tasty. Will produce some nice gaseous excretions, good for Crop Dusting the Office Tomorrow.
TFF Tortillas: Pretty tasty!! I liked these.
TFF Spice Pound Cake: I REALLY liked this! My kids were impressed as well (this was the only part they did eat.)
Cocoa Beverage Powder: I accidentally added a little too much water, but still had good flavor. Not unlike that of Powdered Quick Brand Chocolate Milk. My kids liked it too.
Orange Electrolyte Beverage Powder: My son stole this straight up from both his sister and I (We got none). He gave it a thumbs up. He's also not feeling that great, so the electrolytes will likely help him out a bit.
The coffee (with creamer and Sugar), well, was Coffee. Not much I can say about it.
Menu 3 (Vegetarian): Vegetarian Ratatouille, Potatoes Au Gratin, Chocolate Chip Cookie, MRE Cracker, Peanut Butter Fortified, Lemon Lime Electrolyte Beverage Powder, BBQ Sauce
I didn't get a picture of this before hand, Sorry.
So I'll recycle the stock photo I have of the generic bag:

No separate sealed clear pouch in this one, save for the Brew kit which is in it's own clear, sealed pouch.
Overall, very good.
Like above, individual ratings are below.
Vegetarian Ratatouille: Very good. No complaints from anybody, including my 13 year old daughter who can be a picky eater. I did mix a little BBQ sauce into the Pasta. Not a bad decision really. Made it more flavorful, though BBQ Sauce isn't what I would truly consider mixing into Ratatouille. My son (Like I said before), though not feeling well, tried a couple bites and said it was good. This too, much like the Beans in sauce, feels like it will produce copious amounts a flatulence for Crop Dusting the cube farm at work.
Potatoes Au Gratin: All around agreement that this was a VERY good dish indeed! I'm slightly Lactose Intolerant, so more gas to make it's way out at work!
MRE Cracker, Peanut Butter Fortified: Crackers were bland, but they were whole, not crumbles, which is a plus! The PB, was PB, not much else can be said.
Chocolate Chip Cookie: A hit with each of us. Then again, it's desert and we like deserts!
Lemon Lime Electrolyte Beverage Powder: My son, again, stole this too! But not before I got a drink. Not bad at all. Tasted like Gatorade.
Coffee: Same as aforementioned.
The FRH's worked well. My kids were impressed with the science behind them.
The Napkins/Poop wipes.... A little thin. Good for fire starter, not much else.
Wetnaps.... I like these little additions. Would help morale out in the field.
I can't wait to take these out on my camping trip next weekend and during my vacation at the end of next month!
