My First MRE Taste Test

Post by Kek » Thu Dec 31, 2015 11:11 pm

First let me say thank you to rattattoo for providing this for only the price of shipping right on man!
As you can see (in attachments) this meal consisted of quite a few items. Crackers,Cheese Spreed with Jalapenos,Potato Sticks,2x wheat Snack breads, Lemon Lime Beverage Base Powder,Sloppy Joe Filling, and gonna spoiler it here my favorite item Ice Tea.
Lets us start with the Crackers. They were good, some of the best crackers i'v eaten. Something about MRE crackers is different that other types of crackers and I love it.
Lets add the Cheese and it was delicious. The cheese and Jalapenos was very good. People love to compare it to squeeze cheese, but I find it to be quite a different flavor than that. I can't explain it really but I guess thats why people do compare it. It probably is the closest thing to it, but just know it is different.[/size]
The Potato Sticks are next on the list. These things were really good actually. I have never seen them before not commercially or by watching MRE reviews. They are quite salty, but are like eating chips my closest comparison is to Pringles stix. I love them and now will actively search for these things I ate them all really quick.
I forgot to take a picture of the packaging but I think this thing was called a Chocolate Sports bar? It was 9/10 on my scales. It had that chocolate I like that not to sweet and was a little salty. It was kinda like eating a chocolate bar but with chewier stuff in the middle. I would totally eat it again if I could get my hands on another. Like the Potato sticks I have never seen it in a ration review or anything, but after typing this i'll utilize the site and find what MRE it came in
The Wheat snack breads are kinda bland all I can really say it's bread haha.
The Sloppy Joe was delicious. I ate the thing cold sadly as I didn't really wan't to boil it as I had no FRH. Hey though I still enjoyed it. It tasted like chef boyardee a bit, but I like that so I enjoyed this and ate every last bit. I even made a sandwich out of it. I also put cheese on it :D. I enjoyed it to the last bit next time though will be heating up the entree as I feel it would be better that way.
The Drinks were really good! I loved the Tea it was my favorite thing to be honest the beverage powder was also really good, They were the way I like drinks sweet, but not to sweet the tea I thank god have some more of it was so good. I need more of that stuff send me a PM if you know were to find it commercially or have some extra haha.
Overall I love this hobby, and happy to finally be able to take part in more than watching/reading reviews. I loved this meal and will hopefully continue more in the future. I also hope to do video ones, but I have no camera to do them properly on. Anyway thanks for reading, and again thanks to rattattoo for the stuff. I have more and will show it as I go though it.[

Awesome review, Kek!!

Dude, you scored a Chocolate Sports Bar...!?! Right on, man. Those things are not super common - and if I manage to snag one or 2 a year I say I'm lucky!

The potato sticks sounded like they were still A-OK - nice!! Sometimes they go rancid, but yours were still great!

Awesome pictures, and nice man you like the MRE crackers too - those things are so unique and I wish there was a commercial source somewhere but alas only the MRE producers make that fine cracker.

Thank you for sharing, and thank you to ratattoo for providing the goods to Kek! :D

Hope to see more reviews from ya - totally looking forward to it.

Great Review and I have never had the Sloppy Joe meal. Now I want to try one.
I like the field bread myself and I agree the MRE crackers are great. They are a stand alone, good to eat with nothing else on them entree.
Also the iced tea mix is a good addition to the variety of powdered drinks

Thanks
