I got these Asian Beef Strips loose-lot, and the individual pouch date/code says 1109A. However, they don't show up as a menu item until the 2012s and then it is as #22 w/fried rice for a side.

I was just looking for a quick lunch here today, so it went through the microwave along with some leftover white rice.

It comes out as a pretty nice looking meal. I don't know if the gloppatah-gloppatah machine was just a bit generous on this pouch, but you certainly can't complain on being shortchanged on the beef. Big, plentiful, real-beef chunks... with flavor AND texture, and easily identifiable bamboo shoots and water-chestnut slices for good measure.
The overall "Asian" flavor was not anything that will drive Panda Express out of business. Vaguely oriental... Not specifically Chinese. Not even mildly hot. I added a package of soy sauce, and a shot of hot-oil. With a half a cup of white rice, it made for very satisfying lunch.

Simply because it is this rather amorphous "asian" flavor, I imagine you could take this in almost any Oriental direction. I suspect some curry powder and red-pepper flakes would turn this right into an "Indian" meal. Over a bowl of Ramen noodles, together with the Ramen seasoning and a pak of soy sauce stirred in, and it could pass for Japanese.

No matter what you might end up doing with it, it was certainly good enough for me to do again. So, I'm really glad I have a couple of more pouches of the Asian Beef Strips from that loose-lot. And there are fried rices is to go with those.

I just had one of these from a 2012 case on Sunday and it was fantastic. Definitely one of my new favorites.
